Meet your representatives

Marlena Bunnage
Elected

Tēnā koutou, I have been a parent at Tuahiwi for 5 years now. I am currently a parent rep on the BOT at Tuahiwi School. I am the assistant head kaiako at Karanga Mai Early Learning Centre based at Kaiapoi High School, we are attached to a teen parent unit. My passion in education is driven by my advocacy for Māori to succeed as Māori and I believe this starts in the early years of learning. I hope I bring a different perspective to the BOT with my experience in early childhood education. I am passionate about our Tiriti based early childhood curriculum, Te Whāriki and it’s hollistic approach to education. I strongly believe that all akonga at Tuahiwi can be confident, competent akonga, healthy in mind, body, and soul. With this they will surely succeed. Our tamariki are the heart of the matter. Ngā mihi nui, Marlena

Marina Samadhi
Elected

Tena koutou whanau o te Kura o Tuahiwi. Ko Marina-Rangimarie taku ingoa. I am standing for parent representative for the Tuahiwi school board. I have seven tamariki, aged 22 down to three years old. Our five yr old tamāhine is in Pipiwharauroa and our tamaiti will be joining the Kura next year. I was a parent rep on a primary school board more than a decade ago and found the role to be a great way to tautoko (support) the school. Our whanau is on the journey to bring te reo rangatira, the Maori language, back to Our whanau-Hapu. Connecting with te Kura o Tuahiwi is a major step for us, on that journey, as such, we are committed to Our community for many years to come. I look forward to the opportunity to contribute my whakaaro and matauranga and to participate in the community of Our long-standing Kura now and in the future. He tirairaka whiore whererei.

Naku noa :Marina-Rangimarie.

Rebecca Stevenson
Elected

My name is Rebecca Stevenson and I am standing for Te Kura O Tuahiwi School Board.

I have 3 children - Alex (17), Bailey (15) and Maddie (8). My older two had all of their primary school years at Tuahiwi and Maddie is currently in Year 4.

I have been on the BOT for this last term (3 years) and feel that I still have more to offer and so would love to continue on in my role as Parent Rep.

Tuahiwi School has so much to offer our tamariki, whānau and community, that I feel privileged to even be a small part of that.

I feel that I can offer a lot to the Board as I work very well in a team and feel that my skills from having worked in business, administration and finance have proved beneficial.

Emma Tauti
Elected

My name is Emma Tauti and I am standing for the Board of Trustees for Tuahiwi School.

I have a Masters of Science and prior to children I worked in Environmental Resource Management and Early Childhood Learning.

Originally I was brought up in North Canterbury. I managed to convince my southern raised husband to relocate here with our son Nikau (Year 2) and daughter Kaia (Tuahiwi Preschool).

We couldn’t imagine a better place to bring up our children and we are thankful to have found Tuahiwi School. The academic, cultural and life skill opportunities open to the kids is a credit to the staff and management.

I joined the Board of Trustees in March and I have really enjoyed my time so far. I have an interest in all areas of school life, particularly academic achievement, equal opportunities and participation for all children in a quality education.

I would like to continue to give back to the school and offer my time to help contribute to the ongoing education and wellbeing of all staff and students.

Thank you for taking the time to vote for your parent representatives for Tuahiwi School. It would be a privilege to represent you, your children and our community.
